Did you know that your dedication to Jesus Christ should affect your checkbook?
The issue of what we do with our money is so important that Jesus talked more about it than He did any other single topic in the Scripture.
We know it costs money to operate a church, which is why believers are required to support their local church body. To put it simply, being a Christian requires a financial commitment!
Now, that may sound blunt and even somewhat scary to you, but Jesus teaches that He will provide for us when we put Him and His work first financially. And when we get to the point that we can give regularly to the Lord without worrying about how we’re going to meet our own needs, this is a sign we are growing in our faith. Because Jesus said our hearts will follow our treasures.
Many people treasure money the most”¦which is why Jesus addressed the subject so often. He knows the love of money is an easy trap for us to fall into”¦that it can capture our hearts and make us treasure it more than we do Him.
So here’s something to think about”¦does the way you spend your money show that you treasure God over everything else in your life? Does the way you contribute to your church and God’s work show Jesus, your family, and your friends that God is Lord over your finances?
