“Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it.” Proverbs 3:27
One of the most important things my parents taught me growing up was to love people and use things””not to use people and love things. That meant doing good to others when it was in my power to do so.
Parents, what are your children learning as they watch how you treat others? Are they seeing that love is an action, not just a feeling?
Our kids watch us as parents very carefully”¦and they know if we’re applying this truth in how we live our lives. They know if we’re caring and kind to people”¦and they know if we’re rude. They know if we slander and gossip about others or if we build people up.
Our kids are smart enough to know if we truly care about others””and if we do good to people when it’s in our power to do so!
Wise families learn that life is not just about “me.” It’s about caring for others as Jesus Christ cares for us. As Jesus said in Matthew 20:28, “”¦the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Teach your children to love those around them. And start by modeling that for your children today.
WISE FAMILIES LEARN HOW TO CARE ABOUT PEOPLE.
