Day 22

For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do.

–Romans 7:15

Every Christian””at least those of us who are really honest with ourselves””admits there is something going on inside us”¦a war between the desire to do right and the inclination to do wrong.

How many times have you found yourself wishing you would stop worrying, or lusting, or lying, but find you just can’t break the habit?

God’s Word tells us we will never be able to win the battle going on inside us on our own.

You’ve probably heard the old analogy that compares these conflicting desires””that of our flesh and that of God’s Spirit””to two dogs”¦how whichever one you feed the most will win.

Today, I want to ask you, which “dog” in your life are you feeding the most? Is it the Spirit or your flesh? Because I can promise you on the authority of Scripture and personal experience that whichever one you feed the most will win.

It is my prayer that you will feed the Spirit by loving and obeying Christ more”¦and starve the sin in your life”¦so that through His power, you will win that battle raging inside you today.

THERE IS A BATTLE BETWEEN YOUR FLESH AND THE SPIRIT AND WHICHEVER “DOG” YOU FEED THE MOST WILL WIN!
