“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
One of the strongest drivers for us as humans is the drive for self-preservation. Even Job 2:4 says, “All that a man has he will give for his life.”
Since this is the case, it only makes sense that one of the strongest human fears is the fear of death. The “devil in a prophet’s suit” who came to Nehemiah in 6:10-14 tried to scare Nehemiah into disobeying God with this lie: “They are coming to kill you by night.”
But Nehemiah knew this wasn’t a message from God because it was a message of fear. This so-called prophet was a hired gun to get Nehemiah to give up and quit his God-given task to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem.
Perhaps you’re being tempted to run away and hide today. Maybe you’re ready to quit your job, ditch your church, or even bail out on your marriage and family. Don’t run! That message of fear is not from God! His Word to you today is, “Fear not.”
You can stand strong and not give in to fear because you aren’t alone. God has promised never to leave you. If you’re going to run, run to Him today. Confess your fear, and ask Him to replace it with the assurance of His presence and power.
GOD’S WORD TO YOU TODAY IS, “FEAR NOT.”
