” But if [salvation] is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace.”Romans 11:6
I have always wondered about people who believe they can enter the kingdom of heaven by doing good works and being nice. I want to ask them, “How do you know when you’ve done enough or been good enough?”
The problem with human goodness is that it is not good enough to earn us a place in heaven. The Bible clearly states that none of us deserves heaven, because even the greatest person on earth is sinful in God’s sight. The Bible is clear”¦all have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).
You can achieve great things down here on earth”¦you can do good”¦and you can even be a truly nice person”¦but that just doesn’t translate into eternal life.
As you share Christ with others, let them know that there’s nothing wrong with achieving great things in life. But if they ever want to enter heaven, there is only one way, and that is to place their faith in Jesus Christ.
If they are playing the “good enough” game with God, they need to know that it will never work, because nobody is good enough to stand before a holy God. But the good news is that God has made a way through His Son!
Take time today to make that good news known”¦and praise God for His great gift to you of His Son!
THERE’S NOTHING WRONG WITH ACHIEVEMENT; BUT IT WILL NEVER GET ANYONE INTO HEAVEN.
