“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.” Proverbs 18:21

More than 90 times in the book of Proverbs, Solomon uses words to describe communication.

We can use our words like medicine to strengthen and soothe those who need it the most”¦or we can use our words like missiles to destroy and to devour.

That’s why we need to ask ourselves, do our words strengthen and soothe or do they destroy and devour? The words we are to use should impact and influence those around us. These words should encourage and edify”¦build up, rather than tear down.

Imagine the new sense of joy and excitement in your home and family if you would cut out all the negative and strife-filled words and begin speaking the nourishing words of God!

Remember, the words you speak show what’s really in your heart. And in order to speak those nourishing words of God, you must be connected with Him as your source””the center of your life.

When the Word of God gets in us, we breathe it out, and help those around us. As it says in Proverbs 16:24, “Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.”

It is my prayer today that your words will reflect the One who dwells in your heart!

MAKE YOUR WORDS STRENGTHEN AND SOOTHE”¦RATHER THAN DESTROY AND DEVOUR.
